Ozzy Osbourne was pretty ballsy in his only solo interview of the year, saying politicians need to stick to their promises. He told New Musical Express, “I think entertainers should stay entertainers and politicians should stay liars.” According to Ozzy, political leaders tried to improve their image by linking themselves to Nelson Mandela and taking photos with him. He said, “If you say you’ll do something and you can’t do it, you should get fired, because you got your job under false pretenses.”
Spin Magazine has finally named their Readers Choice best album of the year. Queens of the Stone age took the number one spot with …Like Clockwork. Albums by Arctic Monkeys and Haim were in second place, the National in third, Kanye’s Yeezus in fourth place and the Arcade Fire rounded out the top 5 with Reflektor. Members of the controversial Russian band Pussy Riot are expected to be released from prison, thanks to a new amnesty law. Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova were sentenced to 2 years in jail last year after performing the song “Punk Prayer: Mother of God Drive Putin Away” at a Moscow cathedral; Putin says he was not sorry the women were put behind bars. Sucks to be him today – congrats to the brave ladies.
