Can you believe this adorable little kid grew up to be THE Kurt Cobain?!
The city of Hoquiam in Washington state has declared the first annual Nirvana Day, April 10th, 2014. That’s the same day Nirvana will be inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. Mayor Jack Durney says, “They bring great honour…to our entire community.” “I think it’s good to honor our sons and their great accomplishments.” Kurt Cobain’s hometown is Aberdeen, Washington, but spent some time living in Hoquiam, a town about 4 miles away. Artists are eligible for the hall of fame 25 years after the release of their first record, and since Nirvana’s Bleach came out in 1989, they were nominated as soon as it was possible.
If you thought you wouldn’t be hearing from Rush at all during their year off, think again. Their debut self titled album is getting the re-release treatment for its 40th anniversary in 2014, and the band is “very involved” in the process. If you’re the proud owner of the 1997 release of the Rush album, you can expect the band to dig up even more exclusive content for this upcoming version.
Ever wonder how much your favourite artists know about their favourite artists? The TV game show Celebrity Mastermind could help you find out. Next week, Frank Turner will be on the show to answer trivia questions about Iron Maiden, working against the clock under a glaring spotlight.
