On the Smashing Pumpkins website, Billy Corgan announced the band started recording this Tuesday, and will release two new albums in 2015; Monuments to an Elegy and Day for Night.
He wrote, “For those interested in sound, think: ‘guitars, guitars, guitars, and more guitars…but more so on the epic side of things than, say, grossly metallic.”
They will be working with Howard Willing again, who produced Adore for them in 1988. The band hopes to have the first single out by the end of the year through their new record deal with BMG. Keep an eye on the new band website, The Panopticon, where Corgan promises they will be posting song titles, lyrics, visuals and… “a bird’s eye view of the process as it unfolds.”
