Last month, all London media outlets took the Pledge to End Bullying to put the spotlight on bullying here in our local schools, our classrooms, effecting local families and local kids. Here’s a story that comes full circle from a decade ago.
Louisa Manning was 12 years old at the time and faced her peers as “manbeast” as they made fun of her for several things including her weight and her unibrow (man, you should have seen mine at 12-years old).
Now, 22 years old and studying at Oxford University, she crossed paths with the bully that began the “manbeast” nickname that tormented her as a pre-teen. Shortly after, he asked her out on a date through Facebook. She accepted…but a gal’s gotta stand up for herself, right!?
She told him where to meet her and kindly asked the waitress to hand him this note:
Way to go girl, take that bully. And, it probably hurts a little more for him knowing how beautiful you are and that he missed out.
