Running Reds Will Get Expensive
Last night, London City Council approved a five-year program that will have red-light cameras installed at intersections across our city next year. The pros: It will save lives, increase pedestrian safety, and make $4.5 million in ticket collections revenue over 5 years. Each offence will cost an owner $325 a ticket with a $60 surcharge per victim.
10 cameras will rotate through London’s 22 most crash-prone intersections, hoping to reduce the 6th highest cause of collision in the city by at least 15% as some studies show.
The Canadian Dollar Will Likely Get WORSE
Yesterday we heard the Canadian dollar had dipped down to a 13-year low, worth 69.9 cents American and a Canadian investment bank says we can expect it to get lower, reaching an all time low of 59 cents by the end of the year.
The Powerful Powerball Ticket
Many Canadians have raced over the border to buy a Powerball ticket. Tonight’s Lottery in the US has $1.3 billion up for grabs. Let this sink in: Alex Ovechkin makes $10 Million a year playing for the Washington Capitals, has already purchased some tickets for his family and plans to buy more ahead of tonight’s draw! Like this guy needs any more money!

The odds of Ovie, or you, winning the jackpot are one in 292.2 million (you don’t have to be an American citizen).
Three London Knights in Sportsnet’s Top 30 2016 Draft Prospects
Three London Knights make Sportsnet’s Top 30 Prospects for the 2016 NHL Draft – yes there are six months to go and a lot can change, but Left Winger Max Jones got a chance to shine while his teammates were away at the World Juniors. He’s at #17
For Defenceman, Olli Juolevi who did get to play in Finland is at #7, and at #4, another Left Winger, Matthew Tkachuk:
4. (2) Matthew Tkachuk, LW, London (OHL), 6-1, 188 lb. It’s Tkachuk’s playmaking more than his scoring that stands out when you watch him. Was very good at WJC.
7. (16) Olli Juolevi, D, London Knights (OHL), 6-2, 180 lb. Was terrific on the big stage in Helsinki. Owns superb hockey sense. Some have him ahead of Chychrun.
17. (20) Max Jones, LW, London (OHL), 6-2, 189 lb. Like McLeod, he could still move up. Really produced when teammates were away playing in the world juniors.
