Well, I’m convinced Hilary Clinton had ice cream in bed last night and maybe even frosted flakes for breakfast today to celebrate a historic night. She’s the first female nominee to run for president of a major party, unofficially claiming the Democratic Presidential Nomination after winning more primaries last night.
Overnight Parking Debate Continues at 4pm
Up for debate at 4pm with the Civic Works Committee at City Hall – the staff proposal that calls for a new overnight parking system here in London during the winter months. This plan would allow every license plate registered through a new APP, 15 free passes to park overnight. How many Christmas parties can one person attend, right? Keep in mind that could be helpful with severe weather too…
And it sounds like Councillor Michael van Holst is on our side:
“Because of the pilot project from September 1st to November 1st, we brought in $200,000 less in fines but my rule of thumb is ‘fewer fines is fine,’” he said. “I’m not worried, I really don’t think it’s right to fine people unnecesarrily.”
The numbers over the past four years say that fines for overnight parking alone between 3 and 5 am brought in $2.5 million in revenue.
Ontario’s Climate Change Plan
This morning, Premier Kathleen Wynne announced some more details of Ontario’s Climate Change plan.
A few interesting notes, they’re looking at rebates of up to $14000 to be offered until 2020 to make buying or leasing an electric vehicle more affordable. This is where adding public charging stations to workplaces will come in, and by 2018, new homes in the province will come with a power outlet for this in your garage (similar to the plug you need for your stove).
