Sammy Hagar issues his first public apology to former band-mates in Van Halen in the teaser clip below for this weekend’s episode of “Oprah: Where Are They Now?”
He split with Van Halen in 1996 and has spent a lot of energy and time hating on the Van Halen brothers ever since. He says he isn’t looking to get back in the band, he just wants to be friends.
“The whole Van Halen issue, I really put that behind me, and I’m proud of what we did. So I’ve decided, forgive and forget…I ain’t looking for nothing from nobody. I don’t wanna… I ain’t asking to be, you know… get back in the band and do all that again; that’s work! I don’t wanna do that. No, no, no. I just wanna be friends..I wanna say I’m sorry of anything I said bad about you.”
He did reach out to Eddie Van Halen for the first time in more than a decade to wish him a happy 61st birthday in late January.
This week’s episode of “Oprah: Where Are They Now?” airs Saturday, August 20 at 10 PM, ET/PT on OWN.
