2 guys, 2 Flights of Craft Beer, 2 Plates of Ooey-Gooey, decadent Poutine = Alright, Alright, Alright!
Sharing is Caring, so I decided to share my latest Beer adventure with Jim Kelly, co-host of the Taz Show.
A few good stories from small-town boys, Summer plans in Cottage Country and a couple flights of beer made for a pretty tasty afternoon at Beertown London.
We each ordered a Paddle, with 4 extra-tasty Beers per Paddle.
Jim went with a Pre-selected “Tour Of Beer” Paddle featuring: Sawdust City Lone Pine IPA (Gravenhurst, ON), Innis & Gunn Original Scotch Ale (Edinburgh, Scotland), Goose Island Honker’s Ale (Chi, Illinois) and Stiegl Premium Lager (Austria).
Me, I decided to “Build My Own” Paddle and filled it with:
Spearhead Moroccan Brown Ale (Kingston, ON) – Delicious, nutty with hints of current and raisin. 35 IBU keeps the bitterness low, so the sweetness of the dried fruit really comes forth on the tongue. Great Rainy Day Beer.
Flying Monkeys’ Towards All Ends Witbier (Barrie, ON) – An unfiltered Hefeweisen that’s packed with almost-tropical notes of banana, lemon with a touch of spice – am I tasting Coriander? This beer is built for Summer!
St Mary Axe Canadian Best Bitter (Toronto, ON) – While it’s style says “Jolly Ol’ England”, it’s taste is Truly Canadian, with a hoppy feel that you expect from a Great Canadian Craft Beer.. married to an English Bitter.
Leffe Brune (Dinant, Namur) – This Belgian Brown has a slight bitterness that gives way to roasted, spice aromas. My1st long pull, leaves hints of coffee and caramel lingering. No wonder I saved it for my Dessert beer.
Finally, in true CANADA 150 Fashion, both Jim and I devoured 2 plates of Poutine.
Jim enjoyed the ‘Classic’ Proper Poutine, I scarfed down the ’18-hour Brisket’ Poutine.

Beertown London Manager Rory and his staff REALLY know how to take care of you.
You don’t need to know Beer.
They do, and they’re always willing and able to help with suggestions for whatever suits your tastes..
..even if it’s NOT beer.
