The LONG summer of trying to keep the kids active, happy, out of each other’s hair and making sure you have someone watching them…is FINALLY almost over!
Although you may be emotionally ready for them to go back, maybe logistically/practically you’re not quite there yet. Let us know in the poll below and you’ll feel better if you see A LOT of people voting with you!
As exciting and fulfilling it is as parents to get starting in the Back to School preparations, it’s also pretty stressful. Don’t forget that your kids are likely feeling nervous or anxious about the new school year too, so it’s a good idea to help them prepare and get ready ahead of time.
Watch this AMAZING video with some really great tips to help prepare the kids for going back to school. Some of my favourites from the video include:
- Start working on getting them back to their normal sleep routine
- Take them shopping and get them involved in picking their supplies and clothes
- Help them prepare the area where they will do homework so it’s clean and organized
- Surprise them with a new gadget that will help them with homework
- Set up play dates with friends from school to remind them of the fun side of school
If you have kids that are making that GIANT leap into school for the first time, it might be good to go over the “rules of school” ahead of time so they know what to expect. Even though my kids are going into grades 4 & 2, they ALWAYS seem to need a refresher…and who better to teach them than the MINIONS!
Building on the “basic” classroom rules, it might also be a good idea to go over some of the things that they shouldn’t do or say to the teachers. This would be more for the older students and would help show the right attitude and work ethic that they should have in the classroom. This video is great as it shows the typical things that students do that drive teachers crazy, BUT flipped around in a fun way that everyone will enjoy…a must watch!
This last one is just for you. You’ve spend all the time preparing the kids for Back to School and now it’s your turn!
