There’s no staring in baseball.
Minor league catcher Taylor Davis seems like a fun guy. The 27-year-old is plying his trade with the Iowa Cubs, the AAA affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, and judging by the below video, he’s having a great time. Or maybe a terrible time. I mean, he barely smiles.
He has a habit of finding where the cameras are and giving them the visual business. His weirdness seems to be wide ranging when it comes to his on-camera performances: behind the plate, in the dugout, standing for the national anthem—he can really do it all. And he seems to be doing it all on the field as well, hitting .292 with a very respectable 59 RBIs through 99 Pacific Coast League games this season.
Behind every artist is a powerful inspiration. Here are some of the real-life things we think he was influenced by.
1. Caught Staring In Public
Sitting on the bench and you space out for a second. You’ve done this, and this is what you look like.
2. Supervising Your Kid At The Pool
The look any slightly alerted/concerned parent is capable of making.
3. Just Woke Up, Walking To The Shower
For sure no coffee yet.
4. I Think That’s Mike Up In The 500s
“See, I thought I saw him by the concession stand,” you’d say, staring up into the sunlight in search of your coworker. You wave. He doesn’t wave back.
5. “My Girlfriend’s Still Here, Right?”
6. Staring Regardless Of Convenience
You may have made this move at the bar once or twice. Maybe you just spotted your ex so you’re gonna do the ol’ quick sip-and-look. It doesn’t work. You make eye contact. She leaves. It works out for everyone.
7. Yo, This Guy’s Weird AF
Yeah, like, what’s this guy’s deal? Just kidding, this guy seems like a beauty.
