Vedder Lost In Translation?
Posted 7/29/2010 11:00:00 AM
A few weeks back it was said Pearl Jam was going on hiatus.

They were playing a show in Portugal when fans said at the end of the show, Eddie Vedder, front man for the band when on to say this would be their last show for "awhile."

The band now disputes this.

If you understand Portuguese, fast-forward this video to the 1:35 mark and see if you can make out what he's saying:

A Portuguese to English translation would be perfect right about now. But, if Vedder says it's not what he meant, and the band is not going on hiatus, lets take that for what it's worth.

Phew.

My husband is portuguese and from what he can understand he bascially says that portuguese is very difficult. Thank you for coming to our last show, it might not be forever but it will be our last show for a long time. We thought maybe he just meant in Portugal but then he says in english "Its good so we have fun tonight cause we dont know when else we have fun". I thought my mother in law was confusing when she mixed portuguese with english! Whoa! hahaha ----------------------------------- Sherry - maybe Vedder had, had a "few" while performing earlier in the night? Would that explain the messy translation? Either way, thanks to you and your husband for the help - good to know that Pearl Jam (from what we understand) isn't going anywhere!

I speak both english and portuguese. He literally says "this won't be the last show ever, but this will be the last show for a long time." -------------------------------------------------------- For awhile there Paul, I thought we might have to find Robert Stack and air a new episode of Unsolved Mysteries. Thanks for the translation buddy. It's good to know that Pearl Jam is sticking around
