Stephanie & Ashley Daubbs Memorial Tournament
On May 29, 2006, the community reacted with shock and horror by the deaths of Ashley and Stephanie Daubs who were killed when their father, in an apparent double murder/suicide, drove into a dump truck. Ashley, age 15 and her younger sister Stephanie, age 12 were known as bright, beautiful, friendly, and athletic young girls who loved to play basketball. The London Abused Women’s Centre (LAWC), along with Gold Medal Basketball, have chosen to turn this atrocity into positive action. With the support of the girls’ mother, Debbie Daubs, our two organizations are hosting the 2nd Annual Ashley & Stephanie Daubs Memorial 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament at Springbank Park, just outside of Storybook Gardens, during the weekend of June 7th—8th, 2008. On the heels of a very successful tournament last year, the purpose of the memorial tournament is to honour the lives of Ashley and Stephanie. Click here for more details - http://as3on3sports.com/
Gus Macker 3 on 3
The Macker Tournament is designed so that anyone can play: male or female, young and old, short and tall, the most experienced or no experience at all. This maintains the purity and integrity of the driveway game. Since 1987, the Macker tour has expanded, holding a total of 972 tournaments with over 2.2 million players – male and female from 7 years old to 50+ - and more than 23 million spectators. Teams are computer-matched into male and female divisions within one of the following categories: Junior, Adult, or Top. The age, height and experience of all four (4) players are considered. Teams are guaranteed three (3) scheduled games. The Macker is a double elimination tournament with a consolation bracket: the “Toilet Bowl” for teams losing their first two games. A GusBuster maintains law and order on each court and calls all fouls and violations in the Junior Divisions. Join FM96 for the 2008 Gus Macker 3 on 3 May 24th & 25th around Victoria Park.
