I went to see
CIRQUE DU SOLEIL
last night at the JLC. It was amazing, probably one of the coolest things you will ever see. It's a show of strength, flexibility, balance, and grace. The acts vary from trapeze to juggling, mime, acrobats and aerial ballet. The Chinese poles were my favourite part of the show. It features the house troupe performing acrobatic moves over 25 feet above the stage. As you watch, it's hard to believe its people actually doing these things and not some sort of illusion. It's incredible. Btw, be aware they pull people from the crowd to be a part of the show! Some poor guy was dragged up there last night for the mime act!
Typically, a show like this is not performed in arenas but it was interesting to see how they would transform the show to fit the venue. If there are tickets left for this weekend, I encourage you to go!

Another act that astounded everyone in the place was this one: I had to look it up because I wanted to know what exactly you call it.
Two performers twirl boleadoras in the air. A boleadora is a simple percussion instrument made of a weight attached to the end of a cord. The weights bounce off the ground and make exploding sounds either in unison or in counterpoint to the dance steps of the performers.
