RE: 7/11's no longer 2-4-7 !

Too late. Already signed the petition for the Hamilton and Rectory store. Didn"t help. Apparently Esso owns all 7/11 properties. rumour has it that Adelaide St. to egerton Rd. will be ripped up for repair for most of the summer (7/11 employee told me this) and company did not want to loose money. I also heard from other sources that the underground gas tanks were leaking at the Hamilton store and it was too expensive to fix'em. The new store there now is from T.O. and they have 46 stores in that

Meh, I never go to them anyways. Now that I think of it I've never gone to one....they just aren't in my area so I never really had a chance/reason to go.

Hey Dunner, Just thought I would let you know that a 7/11 is still alive and kicking at the intersection of Hyde Park and Oxford. I think that this one is one of the orginal 7/11's in London. I believe that it was recently updated, and know that it won't be closing anytime soon as it is the only gas station at that intersection now. (Used to be four about 10 years ago). You are right about the slurpee's, they are the best!

Everywhere else is just an imitation slurpee!

RE: 7/11

Hey Andrea, Just another little tidbit to add to why the 7/11's are closing... Because a lot of them had gas stations with them, and all gas stations had to update their underground tanks by a certain date (you may have noticed a lot of stations renovating over the past couple of years) I guess they decided it wasn't profitable to do the renovations if they weren't making enough money off of them so instead they just shut down =(

RE: 7/11

Funny I was wondering the other day why the 7/11's were closing. Since I live near the Pond Mills and Commish one I went in and asked the guy working.( I didnt just go there for that) He said ESSO owns the land that those stores were on and they all had year to year leases and none were renewed. So look for something else to pop up where theyve been torn down. ie. gas station. Pond Mills one is owned by Petro so its safe. P.S There is also still one on Clarke and Dundas. RE: 7/11

I think we need to start protesting the loss of all these 7/11s. Who knows, it might work. After all, this seems to be the exact kind of cause that London City Council gets involved in these days.
