Bye Bye Tie
Tuesday, September 19, 2006
Domi, one of the NHL club's most popular players for a decade, was bought out by the Leafs earlier this summer. He drew interest from other teams but just couldn't see himself playing for anyone else. The 36-year-old right-winger spent the final 11 seasons of his career in Toronto. He's fourth all-time in NHL penalty minutes with just over 3,500. Domi recorded just five goals last season. With fighting down and offence favoured in the new NHL, the Leafs decided it was time to cut Domi loose.
I think the Maple Leafs camp will surely miss him maybe not so much as a player BUT as a face for the team. You always heard about Domi being at this event or that charity. He made Toronto his home and you can certainly respect him for his dedication and love for a team.
