Hey Dunner, This is actually the first I heard about Music World going under, and it kind of breaks my heart a little. Being that I live in the Westmount area, my only remaining option for music in Westmount Mall is to go to Zellers (and honestly... Zellers?) Of course, if this means Music World is going to undergo a large clearance, I'll have to be there every day. It's sad though... so all we have left are CD Plus, HMV and Sunrise Records... do we know what state those are in? Anothe

I spoke with the Marketing Manager at Sunrise Records the other day on the show and they are determined to maintain their status as the centre of pop culture. It's a tough business to be in with stores like Best Buy or Wal-mart - who sell cds at little to no profit just to get you in the store to buy something else with a larger markup.

It's obvious that the Pindoff family lost their passion for the business, if they knowingly sold the company to an investment group with the clear intention of "locking & chopping". Sometimes the whole is less valuable than the sum of its' parts. I think Michael Douglas (a.k.a. Gordon Gekko in "Wall Street") had the definitive summation for this state of affairs: "...greed is good...it's as American as apple pie...".
