Rogers Wireless and concert promoter Live Nation are set to launch a new service called WIRELESS BOX OFFICE. It's basically a way to buy concert tickets through your cell phone using a mobile ticketing program right in your handset.
I like the idea of being able to buy your tickets so conveniently like that; without having to wait in line or be at a computer for the on sale.
It's also environmentally friendly because there are no physical tickets involved - it's all through text messages including a bar code into the show.
And, they have thought about what happens if you delete the text or lose the information in the message. There are ways of getting around small issues.
It all seems like a good idea EXCEPT for the fact that you can't choose your seats or how much they are. The tickets are a preferred allotment for Live Nation shows. Always a catch somehow! Plus, I think they are only good for Live Nation shows, but maybe some other promoters will jump on board.
Unlike Ticketmaster service charges though, Rogers is only adding a $1 wireless fee for each ticket purchased.
If you're a Rogers customer do you think you'll use this service?
