Songs to check out this week:

Death Cab For Cutie "No Sunlight" – a catchy, up beat song off the new album called Narrow Stairs. It's a song for all of us jaded people out there talking about the death of optimism! One more thing to note: DCFC's new album art is eerily similar to Radiohead's style, right down to the same font.   

Coldplay "Viva La Vida" - this song is currently available for download through Itunes for pre-orders of the full album. Chris Martin sums up the song nicely here by saying: "We're still obsessed with making songs that can be sung to the rafters, we just wanted to present them differently." The two songs released so far, this song and Violet Hill, certainly have that soaring cathedral feel to them.

My Morning Jacket "I'm Amazed" – this band is one of my favourites after seeing them live for the first time at Lollapalooza last year. They are an interesting band making unique records, but I have to admit this song hasn't quite won me over just yet. On their myspace you can preview another song called "Evil Urges", which sounds like Prince stopped by the recording studio!
