Jello?

What's the deal with Jello? (In my best Seinfeld impression...I'm Rich F'n Little baby)

Is it a part of the main course or a dessert? In my home it was always a dessert, but you go to a buffet and it doesn't really have a home. It always ends up in the weirdest place, next to the corn and the coleslaw. Never next to the pie or cake, why is that??
