One year ago today I lost my best friend. His name is Nik. He fought the good fight, and almost beat Luekemia. Almost.
We did everything together. We could make anything a good time. I remember sitting at his funeral thinking about how we'd be cracking up at the most inappropriate times. The kid was hilarious.
We would talk on the phone daily. During ball season it was how the Jays were doing, or a quick call to celebrate a homerun. Hockey season was a chat about the Leafs brutal defense. There are still times when the Jays hit one out, or a Leafs headline rolls across the ticker that I reach for my phone. I still haven't taken his number off my contact list.
Nik is my brother. He was such a cool kid. I asked him a few days before he died if there was any song he thought about having played at his funeral, without a thought, "Neil Young - Keep on Rockin in the Free World...Don't be sad and cry cause of me...Keep on Rockin."
So I'll keep on Rockin...Love you bud...

(Nik helped Taz out on a What Would you Do Wednesday a few years back by becoming a Chip N Dales dancer on the corner of Oxford and Richmond.)
