I’m a HUGE hockey fan, football fan, baseball fan, and I do follow a little basketball as well.  But with today’s abundance of over-inflated egos, over-inflated salaries and off-field felons, sports is much more than just a game.    It’s an entertainment business empire.  

Almost every guy I know nowadays (and quite a few women as well) have something “more” than just their heart and souls riding on each game.   Fantasy pools, Pro Line, On-line and Off-line betting are as much a part of sports as Cleats, Skates and Sneakers!   Now I know betting has always been a part of the game...but is there an office or group of guys in the city that don’t currently have a fantasy football/hockey pool going on right now??  I doubt it.   This year, instead of my regular Yahoo Football Fantasy league, we’ve upgraded…to a Facebook Football Fantasy League.  Believe it.

Which brings me back to my original question… Are sports exciting enough on their own anymore?  Homerun hits, Big saves, Exciting Goals, Spectacular touchdowns, Slam dunks, fights, injuries, firings, hirings, lawsuits, salary caps, new jerseys, new teams, unions, agents and the occasional nip-slip.   Not exciting enough.
