It's the place where punk made it its home in the late 70's and beyond to be honest. I made my way to New York in 2001. The first opportunity we had we went down to 315 Bowery. Walking into the club you realize that for a place that has so much history it's rather small. I don't remember the band that played that night. I do remember that it cost me $6 for a bottle of Bud. Funny how that stuck out in my mind. I walked around and looked at all the stickers on the walls and other graffiti that was all over the club. Much like you would look at exhibits in a museum. I guess to me this was a museum. I'm kicking myself for not going into the famous washrooms, but I just didn't have to go at the time. I figured the next time I was back I would. But that's not going to happen since it has now closed. I was saddened when it closed and this article has brought back that feeling again. CBGB's location is now a high priced clothing store.
