Sarah wants to be a green thumb

So this weekend I started something that I have put off for two years&.landscaping my backyard&



We bought a house that was 2 years old in a new development so it didnt have any gardens or landscaping to speak of&.I put it off and put it off&totally using the fact that I was pregnant all last year as my excuse&.but for good reason&I will fully admit that I suck at gardening¬ only planning and deciding what stuff goes where&but keeping it all alive&Really, Im brutal.



Something else I noticed&its not cheap to put in all the plants, trees and flowers you want&so that may be motivation for me to turn myself into a green thumb. Still I am concerned that I will put all this time and effort into the yard and it will look horrible&too many things going on at once&or not enough&or I will plant things in the same garden that arent meant to go together&just thinking about it is giving me reflux&.Maybe instead of sinking money into a pro landscaper&Ill just hit up Chapters and but a book and copy it plant for plant&.



What makes you a green thumb????&are you born with it or can you learn??? Also is it worth all the money to get a professional to come in or can most people do a good job by themselves???
