Should you be able to read your kids' emails???

A parent intercepted an email of a 16 yr old who was threatening to take a gun to South Secondary school to shoot students. The police arrested the 16 yr old boy. Now this brought up the issue of whether or not parents should be reading their kids emails. Taz thinks that as a parent you should be reading their emails. Tucker and I think that it should depend on the situation. I think you should try your best to keep an open door policy with your kids and to respect them. If you have suspicion then ya read away, but knowing who and what kind of friends your kids are associating with is a good preventative. What do you think? Should parents read their kids emails?
