Pasqualina says no to Rated R images in school.

Thursday, September 28, 2006

An anti abortion group labeled Genocide Awareness Project has put up displays in St. Michaels Catholic School in Stratford. Their goal is basically to challenge choice, challenging the message that abortion is ok. They said that because of the busy lives we lead and all the media people are bombarded with that they had to make a bold statement not limiting it to words. The images were very graphic. Pictures of aborted fetuses, a black man being lynched, victims of the Rwanda Massacre and the Nazi Holocaust were used. The pictures werent small they were this size of classroom chalkboard and in the main entrance.

People should be able to voice their opinion but&.These images were very graphic in depicting the brutal deaths that occurred. I DO NOT think children should be exposed to these images in a school without the parents knowledge and consent. They did have counselors on site to help the students that were affected but the effects might be slow to arise.

I know that some images in movies could be much worse but again parents would be able to monitor what they watch. I really hope that the school got the permission from the parents. I wonder if they really knew what the images were? Would they really want to expose their young children to such graphic disturbing images? What do you think? Am I completely being an overprotective mom here? Do you think they should be able to do this without the parents permission?
