But....Canada WAS in the world cup!
They made the cut in 1986 in Mexico, but unfortunately they were knocked out at the group stage, losing 3 straight games.
If we could HOST the world cup, we'd be in for sure (the host country is always in the tournament), but I'd like to see our squad make it on merit, not on a hand out!

I hate soccer. It looks like too much exercise. But it's always a blast to watch with about 24 of my friends (all named Blue) and cheer for the underdogs! What makes it fun is the fans. It's gotta be one of the only sports I've ever seen where All the fans are cheering ALL the time (home or away) and ya know what fans I like the best? The one's with 2 flags on their car; the one of whatever somone down the line they felt they had to abandon, AND the country that took them in! the country that I

I know that if Canada ever does make it to the World Cup I will definitely support them! I am first generation Canadian in my family and I am very proud of it...what a fabulous country to live in! I LOVE football and would watch it every day if it was shown here like it is in Europe, but it's not...so for me the World Cup is an amazing thing...footy everyday! Yay!
I actually enjoy the fact that so many people in the city were so involved in the World Cup. I loved driving around and seeing all t

I was also disgusted this Canada day, I had seen so many different flags from around the world and sadly no one had a Canadian flag on their car. I have a friend who was so concerned about Brazil losing, as he went on and on about being so proud to be Brazilian, but the weird thing is, before the world cup I had NEVER ever heard him speak of being Brazilian. I don't think thats right at all, why is it that your background doesnt matter until something like this comes up?

What if Canada was floating in space?
What if Canada was actually Italy?
Canada in the World Cup?
Not gonna happen.

When we lived in the states for 6 years we always voted and cheered for Canada. Sure sometimes we stood out...(Thanks Giving, July 1st, Maple Leafs...That was my husband) Supporting your country when you live in another can be very exciting!

Dear Taz,
It's amazing how many Canadians still watch the World Cup every four years, despite team Canada's non-existent presence.
I think it would be great to see Canada in a World Cup, but it would be even greater to watch as these "nationalistic posers" struggle between a dilemma of choosing their ancesterial land or their current country.
I've been a little disgusted this World Cup with people going around baring flags of countries they've never visted or whose language they can't
