Looking back at elementary school…there were lots of kids that came and went and a few that were there straight through until grade 8 grad. I sometimes look at old class photos (I have from JK until Grade 8…thanks mom) I see all kids I went to school with and I realize that now they are grown up, have careers, families and look totally different.

That’s why I love Facebook…It allows you to see what everyone is up to…to see what happened since they were those little kids in the grade 2 class  photo…AND…it shows you what they look like….I recently came across a guy I was in grade 8 with on Facebook…He was a sweet, shy kind of quite guy that wasn’t super outgoing….I just found a pic of him online and now he’s a fitness/underwear model…He is JACKED in a Brad Pitt in Fight Club kind of way…traveling all over the world having his picture taken for a living…NOT BAD AT ALL.

Just makes you wonder…maybe we should teach our kids to go for the shy quite types, or the slightly nerdy chess club guy…because in my Facebook world…those at the people who are doing something exciting and valuable in their lives…while the Homecoming Queen and Quarterback are living the average, boring, “I want to stab myself in the eye with a pen I’m so bored” kind of life….so a lesson learned for the future generation
